The original First Edition best-selling Wonderland Book, with exclusive cover design by Kirsty Mitchell.  The Wonderland Series is an award winning body of work created in memory of Kirsty Mitchell’s mother who passed away from cancer in 2008. This deeply personal project has taken the artist over five years to create, with a further two years dedicated to independently bringing the book to fruition. This huge volume contains over six hundred and forty photographs, featuring all seventy-four pieces in the Wonderland collection, as well as extensive behind the scenes imagery from the shoots and costume galleries of the pieces made by Kirsty. Alongside the photographs the book contains the deeply personal journal kept by Kirsty throughout the duration of the project, which explains the development and meaning of the works, as well as the emotions she experienced behind the lens.

Description

As a physical object, this is without doubt the highest quality, most beautifully produced book that I will ever likely own. As for the content, the photographs in Mitchell's Wonderland series are simply stunning. Each one is a mini world filled with beauty, intrigue and wonder, but often tinged with a hint of darkness. And yet, they are also composite parts of something greater; weaving together to form one ongoing narrative of life, death and healing.

Although this is technically a book, I actually consider it a work of art. The quality of the cover, the paper used and the content are exceptional. The photography is outstanding and I always find something new to appreciate every time I read the book. Having lost my mom to cancer also, I feel a kinship with the author and her journey of grief. This is one of my very favorite books and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I would give this book 50 stars if I could i just love it...It takes you to another world of beauty, fantasy and story telling...It's one of my most prized possessions on display for everyone to see...It is hugely compelling as it's connected to the very personal experience of the love Kirsty has for her mum and I admire the courage it took to show this to the world..x

A book for a lifetime, for I can't imagine ever wanting to part with this stunning book. A true heirloom, a labour of the most immense love, and a shrine to beauty born out of suffering and loss. An incredible work of art that warms even the most jaded of hearts.

I don’t think I’ll be able to ever come up with the words that would do this book justice. A profound work of art and a fantastical journey from beginning to end. I’ve been a fan of Ms Mitchell and this book for some time now, but I got a completely new perspective on it after the death of my grandmother. It’s pure magic and a coveted possession.
