Produced by UpOnWalls (Sweden), this exhibition includes outdoor displays and fine art prints presented inside the contemporary museum at the beautiful Falsterbo beach location. Fotografiska in Stockholm are celebrating their first fifteen years with a group exhibition showcasing favourites from past and present exhibitions. Works selected from the Wonderland series include ‘Sprited Away’ and ‘The Ghost Swift’. The exhibition is open until February 8th 2026.

In the summer of 2024 (June 8th – September 15th) selected works from the Wonderland series were exhibited at the beautiful Swedish castle Läckö Slott . The exhibition was produced by UpOnWalls and included outdoor displays and fine art prints presented inside the original 15th century rooms. For the first time ever, some of the Wonderland costumes were also on display, as well two large scale pieces from Kirsty’s new series ‘Quiescence’.
The show experienced record breaking visitors to the castle, making it their most popular exhibition in over 40 years.
In the summer of 2024 (June 8th – September 15th) selected works from the Wonderland series were exhibited at the beautiful Swedish castle Läckö Slott . The exhibition was produced by UpOnWalls and included outdoor displays and fine art prints presented inside the original 15th century rooms. For the first time ever, some of the Wonderland costumes were also on display, as well two large scale pieces from Kirsty’s new series ‘Quiescence’.
The show experienced record breaking visitors to the castle, making it their most popular exhibition in over 40 years.

UpOnWalls (Sweden) created a unique outdoor version of the Wonderland series — specially adapted to the open-air setting while maintaining the artistic integrity and immersive quality of the museum show. Set within the beautiful surroundings of the sculpture park, this large-scale presentation allowed visitors to experience Kirsty Mitchell’s imagery in a new and powerful way. The exhibition ran from April 16th – October 19th 2025.

In December 2018, the first major museum show of the entire Wonderland series (all 74 photographs) opened at Fotografiska in Stockholm – one of the worlds most important museums of contemporary photography. It received record breaking audience numbers for the museum, becoming one of it’s most popular in it’s history.
The exhibition went on to tour Fotografiska’s sister venue in Estonia and was due to open in New York during the summer of 2020. Unfortunately the Pandemic caused the show to be delayed, the new dates are currently yet to be confirmed.

The eyes wander over detailed photographs where people are portrayed as strong, suggestive beings. Nature captivates the viewer with its magic and the texts for the photographs evoke thoughts about what we do with our lives. That such strong emotions can be produced through a camera lens makes me feel great wonder about the impact of culture on us people. Yes, even wonder about life in itself. I guess what the exhibition does to me, and thousands of other people who visit it, is what art and culture does when it is at it's best.
